Biography

I was born in New Jersey into a close family of six. I started horseback riding when I was eight years old, and by the time I was ten I started competing successfully at horse shows around the state. Horseback riding has taught me the importance of responsibility and teamwork, as I was the sole caretaker of the horses that I owned.

I was very active in various clubs and my varsity basketball team in high school, which carried over into my undergraduate career at The College of New Jersey. I am a Communications major with a double minor in Marketing and English. Through the courses I have taken at TCNJ and my various internships, I have discovered that I want to be a Public Relations practitioner. After obtaining my Masters from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications, I hope to immediately start working in the public relations field.

I take pride in the fact that I take advantage of every situation I am in and live life to the fullest. I am eager to start working professionally so that I can show the world what I have to offer.

Letter of Intent

Dear Potential Employer,

As a current senior at The College of New Jersey, I was thrilled to discover that your company is offering an employment opportunity. Please accept this letter of intent and resume for consideration for this employment offering.

I am graduating this May from TCNJ with a major in Communication Studies and a double minor in English and Marketing. I have taken a variety of rigorous Communications classes, including a public relations course, a public speaking in business course, and a communications research course. In Strategies of Public Relations, my group and I created a public relations plan and media kit for the campus television station, Lions TV. In addition, this plan and media kit were formally presented to Lions TV. This is the class that sparked my interest in the public relations field so much so that I am attending Syracuse’s Newhouse School of Public Communication to obtain a Master’s degree in Public Relations.

While being involved academically, I also take pride in the extracurricular activities that I partake in. I am currently involved in multiple organizations, and strive to give my best effort to benefit those organizations. I have gained invaluable leadership qualities and have learned that in order to become the best leader one can be, you must be willing to be led by others. In addition, I have learned to time manage many tasks and to prioritize, which is extremely important to any extracurricular activity, class, or professional position.

Overall, my passion to explore the Public Relations field will motivate me to dedicate 100% of myself to this position. I am proactive, ambitious, and enthusiastic about any task I face, and know that I will do an excellent job with your company.I greatly look forward to hearing from you in the near future and thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Jessica
